Default Help! Problem with 95 Volvo 850

Hey everyone - I'm a newbie. I have a 95 850 that I bought a few months back that has been great so far. I have been running it very low on gas for the past month - to the point of almost empty sometimes. It started fine yesterday morning and I ran up and put $20 in it, came back to my house to grab something I forgot and left it running. Came out 30 seconds later and it had stalled. I tried and tried to restart it but nothing. Now it's to the point that the battery is dead. It sat week before last at almost empty while I was out of town as well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

Do you have fuel pressure?

Have you tried tapping on the top of the fuel pump?

I don't know if I have fuel pressure - or where the fuel pump is located.

Yeah exactly....... WHAT??

Any way with your key on not running but on, wearing safety glasses.
pop your hood and make sure you have a rag and a small screwdriver
depress the purge valve at the end of your fuel rail.

Fuel should spray out with some force, if it dribbles out you have no fuel pressure.

Then I would go to the trunk pull back the carpet in the top right corner.
You will see 2 aluminum covers, the larger one is the fuel pump. remove the nuts and the cover, while someone in the front seat have them turn the key to the on position. Listen to see if the pump turns on, If it does not thell them to crank the car and begin tapping on the top of the pump and see if it starts.

Report back and we can go on from there....
Make sure there is some fuel in the tank. and your battery is charged.

That's good info. I personally don't have this issue, but I will recall this simple procedure if I do. Thanks.

Nice painted-to-match fuel rail, BTW.
