Default Help! Trans has no forward gears, only reverse.

So the gf went out to go to work this morning and the 95 850 had no forward only reverse. I took a look at it and it won't go in any forward gear at all, acts like it's in neutral. When manually putting it in a lower gear, the up arrow appears on the dash but nothing still happens, doesn't catch at all like it's even trying to go into gear. Reverse seems to work fine. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Possible the pnp switch is junk. Dosent register that its in a forward gear... thats the best case scenario. There pretty easy to replace.

Thanks for the response. After your suggestion, I followed a walkthrough this morning to remove and repair the PNP switch but unfortunately, that didn't help once I got it back together.

Did you do a few drain and fills or a power flush?

Did you check for any transmission fault codes? Check out Volvotips.com for some diagnostic procedures.

Would the the trans fault codes show up on the obd II reader? This 95 has an odb II connector and the diagnostic center behind the right headlight. There was only the 02 sensor code I haven't been able to get rid of for 2 years on the scan tool. I didn't check the diagnostic center.

For the trans fluid, I did the flush where you disconnect the trans cooler line and let it drain in a pan with the car running on/off while filling up the trans stick until the fluid is clean.

Does the legendary Robert haunt these forums? I've seen some of his youtube videos. How do you contact him?

try using the diagnostics port under the hood, jumper to A1 for transmission codes

Tried this, no codes present 1-1-1. Another forum suggested replacing the shift solenoids which I could do but they're not cheap and I'm wondering if one or more could be bad without a code present.
