Default Reverse Slippage

Hey guys, I've been reading alot on these forums since I bought my Volvo a few months back - alot of great info!

I bought a '94 850 Turbo wagon a few months ago, and its been great. Recently it seems that Reverse is slipping. With the exception of some pretty firm hard shifts it drives fine in drive. I can put it in reverse and get out of my driveway, but once I give it gas (If I am on a slight incline, etc)the motor races, and then eventually "catches". Is there anything I can do besides change the fluid? I have read on here about some adjustments that can be made. I have tried the Lucas stuff, with no change.

Thanks!

Jon

This sounds just like the problem I have, sometimes I put it into reverse and it keeps knocking into that gear, and also just like your experience, when I was in reverse it was like the gear would not catch when I gave it gas, the engine just kept revving. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the PNP switch, I always get this code popping up.

Without breaking into the trans the best you can do is a fluid swap to synthetic. Cross your fingers...the odds are not in your favor. sorry.
