hey tech
Tech,
I changed the MAF, and started driving the car. It seemed to drive okay, and then just out of the blue, at about 50mph, it kindof jerked, ever so slightly, and then I got a code 103.Checked the code, and it says:the vacuum hoses; the throttle body intake tube loose, off or cracked; BARO/MAP defective; VAF, MAF dirty or Defective.
Okay, I'm going to check the vacuumhoses, and the intake tube once again. Butwhat is the BARO/MAP sensor, and VAF sensor?
Thanks,
Ed

Tech,
The car is not revving back and forth, and is dying out periodically, andthe 103 code is popping up. Also, when I give it gas, it wants to stall, and then takes off after about 10 seconds, and runs fine, if I can get the RPMs up high enough. I think I checked all the hoses. I even checked them with a vacuum gun. the throttle body hose has no holes in it, and I'm not sure what's going on. the car actually runs a little better with the MAF disconnected, and that's how I'm driving it, or trying to drive it. Any suggestions?

Recap: change both OS sensors and the catalytic convertor; change the MAF; had the injectors cleaned; new rotor, distributor, plugs, and wires; checked all the vacuum hoses with a vacuum gun, and I believe all hoses to be good, and none missing.
Any suggestions?

No scanner. Also, when the MAF is plugged in, it revvs up and down quite a bit, along with wanting to die out. When the MAF is unplugged, it revvs up and down just a little, and runs just a little rough. Any clues?
I wish I could say more.
But without seeing it I am out of ideas.
If you had a scanner with real time data you could watch alot of stuff and that might help figure it out.

Hey Tech! I took my car to the mechanic, and he says that the 172 code is being caused by the fuel pump. He replaced it about 8 months ago, but apparently there's another problem with the new one. I will have to pay for the labor, but I'll take it, if it fixes the problem. Thanks for the help. Also, is there anything else that I should pay attention to, as to the fuel pump? If it failed that soon, then maybe there's something else I can do to make sure that this one lasts?
Jeez Tech,
I have to commend you on the abundant patience and courtesy you display to all us guys wanting a bit of information here and a bit of information there.
Thanks

Thank You!!!
I do enjoy doing this.
When I was young and just starting I wish this type of info was avalible. It wasn't so I had to figure it all out on my own which was a major PITA at times. Thats why I share what I have to make it better for everyone. It also makes me feel better doing this.
It is my way of giving back.
