Default How do I remove this part of the dash

Are both sides of the dash all one piece or can I remove this side separately and if so how. I am talking about the part around the glove compartment. In the picture you can see in the lower left just below the glove compartment that mine is broken, from previous owner. There is a wagon like mine at Pick n Pull and I would love to do a change out.

It's one piece; ever pulled a dash? Lots of fun!

Once you have the dash out you can take it apart there are a lot of screws and it's also glued. I did this myself as I switched from a grey dash to a tan one. The tan one was unfortunatelly broken (the back part where the 4 big bolts hold it) so I took my grey apart and added the tan parts.

Here are a lot of pics from the "action" https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pxb101phygza66y/E-9Z1deg0P

As I've mentioned, I'm partial to the dark interior, but either one looks so much better when the dash isn't two-tone. That looks great with the top and bottom halves of the dash matching.

So what caused the stiches?

Chances are, someone broke that taking out or installing the knee bolster. You can likely patch it from under the dash, pull your glove box, take out the bolster, remove the lower panel then find some kind of glue or fiber glass and patch it from the back. Other than that you'd have to pull the entire dash. A big can of worms.

While driving today I hear a pop then my dash starting making noise. I assume one of the main mounts broke loose. SMH

I don't think I'll be pulling the entire dash. I'll see what kind of repairs I can do from the back. When they broke that they also broke some of the screw anchors for the glove compartment insert so I'll up date if I come up with any good repairs or not.

Well as I mentioned above the dash parts are glued together ... when I tried to remove the glue I used a big kitchen knive....Of course it slipped, fortunately my hand was there and prevented damage to the dashboard The brake trail was 5 cm long and 3 deep, and required 7 stiches

For the boot gaiter I used fluid leather (a lot)
