I miss you guys!

I used to own a crazy orange and black 850 T-5 as seen in my albums. Loved the car to death but it was eventually time for it to go a few years ago. About 1.5 years ago I chose to test drive an S60R at a local dealer. It felt exactly like my 850 but a little more stylish and more power. Both drive the same for the most part but the R is like the 850 taken to a new level. I immediately fell in love and bought the sucker.

I've done alot of work to the R since I bought it bone stock. Here is how it currently looks. My next step is going to be painting the car polestar blue much like the new S60's. Is "Tech" still the go-to guy on this forum?

Hey Saleen, I was so glad when those orange pics slowed down their header rotation. I figured that you got something else. I thought I had read that your brother got the orange one.

Tech will always be the "Go To" guy. Mostly through the search function lately. He's been having some serious health issues. He posted a thread about it a few months ago. Hasn't been able to get on much but a few guys here are in touch with him off line.

Nice R. I didn't know that the S60's drove that much like the 850's. Interesting...

That R is too sexy to be on here. Thank you for gracing us with your presence.

They both have a sport mode but the way they function is a little different. It seemed the sport mode in the 850 dealt mostly with throttle response. I always noticed when I changed to sport mode, the peddle was more responsive and the car had a much better kick. In the R, the sport mode mainly targets shift timing. After hard acceleration, the car will stay in the lowest gear possible to try and keep the engine in it's power band at all times. It is very good for driving on winding roads because of this.

Also, the turbo characteristics are similar. I fell in love with that jolt of acceleration the 850 would give me when going from cruising at 35 mph to WOT. The S60R has the same jolt but the magnitude is just a bit higher, mainly contributed to the higher boost pressure.

A big difference though would be the AWD vs FWD. With my R now I very frequently choose to go WOT when turning at a light. The grip is amazing and it is hard to lose traction even with DTSC off. DSTC applies braking per individual wheel to promote traction. Now that I have it tuned by ARD I have noticed that I can break the tires loose through a turn but only the slightest amount. Snow drifting by far is one of the most enjoyable things about AWD.

That is just beautiful. I also am in love with that color. I have a 1972 Corvette with a similar color, Chevy called it Steel Cities Grey Firemist.

So, BTW, this is my dream car to upgrade too. Was it hard to add the body kit to it? Many of the AWD R's for sale in the Pacific NW or Oregon, generally don't have this body kit, which IMHO makes the car set apart from anything on the road.

I am truly envious and also happy for you.

I really enjoy driving AWD autos. They just seem mean and agressive.

Not hard to add but expensive, yes. I agree that the body kit makes or breaks it. My body kit in the end will cost about $750 when I get the side skirts in the mail. Installation is a breeze.
