Default IAC Humming

I couldnt get thru a week with out another problem. Just in the last couple of weeks ive notices a Idle problem. Once in a while at a stop light, my engine will almost stall and all I do is hit the gas and its ok. Now tonight when I went to start (hot start) she started and then stalled. I tried to start again and it took a few secs to catch. (almost like she was flooded). Ok, time to get the OBII reader out. NO codes it says. OK I lift the hood and check the manual codes (blinking lights) no codes....BUT I noticed a humming sound coming from under the throttle control cover when the key is on but not running the engine.....Strange I said, never heard that before. I took the cover off and sure enough the IAC is humming and vibrating.....so I disconnect the IAC and started the car. I ran for a couple of min and then reread the OBII codes. Sure enough I tho P1507 and P1505. Now I take it those codes are normal if you disconnect the IAC. So, do I need to replace the IAC or can it be cleaned. Im sure its not suppose to hum and vibrate.....200 bucks for one....ouch....

Chebucto.

and thanks in advance TECH!

Try cleaning it and see if that helps.

It is supposed to make some noise and hum. But since you said it would run for a few seconds unplugged I would try cleaning. Unplug it and remove the IAC by disconnecting the hoses and slide it out. Then spray in the holes to clean it out.

OK Tech, I took the Iac apart and it was pretty back. I cleaned it out and added a little WD. I noticed the turbine inside moves a little when you shake it, is this normal, also the hum is gone, but it still vibrates a little.

I will test run it tonight to see if it stall anymore.
