Default Ideas for car not starting when warm?

Welcome all!

Well, only thing I can think of for my '94 850 non-turbo is the coolant temperature sensor making the engine flood. It just cranks and cranks after it has been running for over a few minutes. I plan to probe it when cold and see if the resistance changes consistantly while the engine is warming to rule it out. Any other ideas? I havnt checked for spark yet. Common problem?

Thanks everyone - Dave and Bri!

Yep. You should have a check engine light and a code too. Ours did when the sensor went bad!

The coolant temp sensor is mounted in the thermostat housing.

Thanks guys!

Weel with your help, I located it and put a meter on it. 5.5K ohms at 45 degrees, steadily decreasing to 250 ohms at about 180 degrees. So that seems to be working correctly.

Any other ideas? I have to try to make this happen again then check for spark...

According to my book the hot setting is a little low at 176F it should be 300 ohms.
You might also want to make sure the thermostat isn't broke internally.
