our shop air is 80 PSI regulated. 300 PSI MAX, 500 gallon. (its a hell of a compressor, throws the breakers for the entire shop sometimes when it kicks on once a week.)

Point is, its all about the gun and a little about the compresser, you just need to turn the regulator up as high as it will go. you might only be able to get 15 or so hits , but give it a minute and let the tank fill back up and hitt it again.

Compressor tank size = how much air it will hold to do work

Compressor max PSI = max amount of force that can be applied. lower max PSI usually less CFM that can be produced from the air pump.

There are certain guns out there that take advantage of lower operating pressures.

 

haha, if your compressor pump is tripping a main breaker, that is a problem. Either somebody has wired it straight to the bus bar (and it also is too much load for the box, nevermind the service wire) or it is on a dedicated sub circuit breaker (like it should be) and the main breaker is weak (or the sub breaker does not work).

Anyhow, it is also important to note that what PSI the gun is rated to run at, is a constant running pressure. This is important, because you will have a pressure drop because of your air hose, depending on its diameter and length. They recommend to measure air pressure with a gauge, at the tool, while running the tool, to set PSI. Often people who complain of poor performance have the pressure set too low....

 

Heat and some Sea Foam Deep Creep will work wonders, helps all the time at the shop I work at. Didn't mean to cause any problems with the starter trick it was just a thought to help ! The way we set it up was get the car on the lift and pull all 4 tires off then lower it as far as we could and then hook up a breaker bar and force that against the floor and just tap the starter and it worked great. The car we used it on had red locktite on the bolt threads.

 

the building I work in is 80 years old. The business is going on 40 years next year. I go with all the above. We are working on the renovations slowly. its just two of us and we got 40 cars outside and they are live!
