I had recently had exhaust manifold changed, because the car was very noisy. After that the car still made some noise, esp. on acceleration, and was quite loud at speeds above 70 mph-I was told that the noise was coming from the muffler .

Well, had muffler changed last weekend (took them a while to get the clamp out),
and now have almost same noise.
New muffler is made by Bosal (was $60.00 cheaper then from Volvo).

Now the sound is almost as loud as one from those "tuned" Honda Civics or other small car with aftermarket loud muffler.

Naturally, I was disappointed at first, since the whole idea of changing the muffler was to make the car quieter. Instead, I got 12 y. old non-turbo w/ "sports car" sound....

Later I noted that the car seem to accelerate easier and slightly faster.

Now I wonder, if that feeling ( car being able to accelerate better after muffler change) is my subjective feeling or it could be true ?..

I'd appreciate any input.
