I noticed tonight that the insterment lights and accessary lights just went out, i thought the car stalled out. Then when i messed with the brightness swtch they came back on. Then later went off again till i messed with the brightness switch. Could these be a bad connection or loose wire. I dont mind the messing with the switch but my wife freaked out

Sounds like you have a good handle on it. Could be dirty contacts too.
