Default Intermittent ABS Light

Hi,

From time to time, the ABS light on the dash illuminates. Does anyone know what this means? Is it a serious problem? Any information would be appreciated.

My car is a 97 Volve 850 Wagon with 255K on it.

Thanks.

Nate

Most likely the ABS module is bad.

Number of places on web that repair. I used BBA remanufacturing. Easy to take the module off and send it to them for repari. Cost me $79

A couple of weeks ago I decided to open up the wife module and I saw what was wrong with the solder joints and repaired mine myself.
I haven't said much till now because I want her to drive it some before I said anything to make sure it was a good fix.

I used Module Masters. I was extremely satisfied with it. They even sent back the refurbished unit with a smiley face sticker. Cost was almost exactly $117.

I have the same issue. I knew this when i bought the car...and negotiated the price down for its replacement. But, if its something I can remove myself and just send off...that sounds GREAT! and ....a great way to save some dough.

that said....can i use the car without the module in it?
anyone got a link for a tutorial..or will a haynes manual cover this?

You can drive without the module, but you will have no ABS (duh!!) and no speedometer.

If you have GPS or a satnav thiswon'tbea problem.
