Recently purchased a 97 850 glt. Had no crank/ start issue. Sorted with new pnp switch and starter. However now the #28 fuse keeps blowing. Turn key to accessory fuse blows immediately. Ive un plugged the cruise control (under battery tray) brake light switch and shift lock solenoid. Still trips the fuse!

 

volvotips.com should have a wiring diagram. I'd look to see if there's a relay in the service path - if so pull that to see if the fuse stays lit, then its time to do some multimeter work :-)

 

According to schematic that circuit is only live in RUN, not ACC. So maybe an ignition switch (electrical portion) issue?

Also try unplugging the CC switch to see if that makes any difference.
