Keyless Remote Question
I have a 1996 850 that I bought from a friend. When she handed it over to me, she said that the keyless remote fob was broken - she had replaced the batteries and it still didn't work - so it must be broken. Well, I did some research on the internet, and found information about reprogramming the remote, so I tried that and it still didn't work. So, I bought another used remote on ebay and it still doesn't work. When I've tried to reprogram the locks, I do the "turn on, turn off 5 times, leave on 5th time and press one button on fob" trick. I've read different variations of which button to push - lock, unlock, and both at same time. I've tried all of the above. Nothing happens. No lights blink, no sounds are made, and most importantly - no doors lock or unlock. I've seen some mention of the sensor or receiver (I don't know what it's called) inside the car wearing-out. Is that something I can replace? Is it expensive? Any suggestions? Thanks!!
The key works with the central locking, and the light blinks on the alarm, so it sounds like the fuse is probably alright - although I haven't checked. How would you check the relay? Is that possible, or would you just replace it to see if that's the problem? Thanks!
not sure about testing the relay sure i read some where that you can take the relay to the volvo dealers to have it reprogramed me thinks that would mabey be a little $£ mabey not ? oh the alarm relay is above the accelerator pedal its black with a green plug on top . try tech he answers a lot of questions on volvos hes usually spot on
I kind of have this problem also. Except only my lock button on my keyless remote does not work. The unlock works well but for some reason the lock does not work. I have tryed that 5 turn ignition thing and it did not fix anything. I also replaced the battery in my remote and it still does not work.
