knocking noises !
Hi all, this is my first post so I hope You will all treat me gently !
I have an '96' 2 litre 20 valve 850 estate, manual shift, lovely car but she has a problem that i am trying to solve.
There is a bad 'knocking' noise eminating from the rear left hand side when going over bumpy surfaces, fine on flat level. I am disabled in as much as i can no longer get underneath to work, anything above knee height is ok and i do my own mechanicing if possible. The estate has the extra 2 child seats fitted in the rear. I have removed spare wheel and cover to try to see the problem up top, when the rear left hand quarter is bounced up and down the knocking is apparent and i can see the floor cover section that the rear child seats are hinged onto move up and down by half an inch when the car is bounced in that manner, I guess its a suspension mount of some sort moving through the body shell but i cannot find a way of removing the child seats and the bit of floor cover this is attached to, I would be greatly indebted for any suggestions regarding this matter, many thanks in anticipation gents and ladies, all the best, mick.

I don't know how to do the child seats but it sure sounds like it's a shock mount that's gone out on you. I bought mine that way.
Recommend you do both. I had the other one go out shortly after replacing the bad one and new shocks. It's just easier since you'll have the floor up anyway and the tools all laid out.
