Le Volvo
Yeah, it's love/hate thing, but I think once it's all put together, people will like.

I wouldn't be doing this if it hasn't been done before. In case no one has seen this, go to stanceworks.com. You will see that what I'm doing is actually pretty mild and has all been done before....for the last 30 or so years to be exact over in Europe. It's nothing new...just new for Volvo.
That isn't dirty. Here's dirty. The XC70 somewhere in the Northwest Territories, Canada.
Gilber33,
Love the look of your new wheels, saw the clip on the guy doing the stretch thing, like you said that is all about style. Coming from racing and autox, I look for my tires to work for me in the corners, etc. and with them way narrower than the rims, the tires can't work like they are made to.
I sometimes like the slam thing using air bags, but I really drive my cars, sometimes fast like I stole them, especially in the mountains as I love fast corners.
I do love your coilover idea, and I do love coilovers as they are a geat way to weight balance your car. Get yourself a set of four corner scales, it is amazing what you can do to the behavior of the car when you alter the weight balance, not from front to rear but from corner to corner.

Yes....I know. These aren't my only set of wheels.
Anyways,
Boom.
Fronts will still come down about a half inch.

And it was a spare hood. I painted it for a meet, but then I sold the original hood at the meet to someone who needed it more than I did. Haha. So now this is one is it. lol
And tragedy struck:

Fronts are going in on Friday to get the tires taken off and then I'm going to take the wheels apart and reseal and put back together.
I just want to drive it so bad and now it's down for another week. Ugh. The price you gotta pay to roll hard.

If I had those wheels I'd have wider tires and make the car fit the tire !!
They do look good as is on yours though.
Well, except for that hissing

I understand what you are saying but I managed to fit 245/50 on stock 16's under my wife's '95 Thunderbird Supercoupe and I just love overfilled wheel wells. The hard part was finding a transmission drive gear that came close to giving me a somewhat accurate speedo. Ended up using one out of a Mustang cobra. Dropping the OD of the tire was similar to lowering the rear end gearing. It blitzes off the line but at a bit over 90 mph it does start to run out of acceleration. It will still go well past 120 but how often are you really up there?
Those BBS's are just too good looking not to have really fat black tires that rub at full lock. I would love to have someone modify my fenders and quarters to clear some bigger tires. If I end up with the tune and 19T I can use the rubber to my advantage and my end up doing so. Hope I can find as nice a set of wheels as yours.

Well, yeah, it's easy to fit big *** tires when you have 1' of fender clearance and the wheels are sunk into the wheel well. lol.
And I disagree, I think these wheels are too nice to have big tires hiding them.
These wheels were not found like they are now, this is about 3 months of restoration. Best bet is to find a set that needs paint and the lips refinished that you should be able to pick up for around $600-800, otherwise a set in this condition will run you about $2k.
Once they're back on the car and the front coilovers adjusted I'll get some better pictures, hopefully Easter weekend.

I know where a set of gold ones are that can be had for about $400 to $500. 17x8's, sitting under a V70 GLT with a bad head gasket.

Like sitting outside?
Yes, bolted to the car. They are gold. I tried to talk my daughter into buying them but I don't think she has the extra cash either.
