Default Lifter saga continues

My noises never went away no matter how many flushes etc..
Finally bit the bullet and got a lifter kit from FCP Groton.
Got the top apart- not as bad as I expected!
Of course he tearing up is always easier than the putting back together!
This motor was pretty sludgy!
Lots restricted passages etc.
I am in the process of cleaning out all the galleries and passages I can reach.
Theold lifters- if you squeeze them the oil comes out! So im thinking theres my noise.
Anyway- waiting for a few parts and will put it back together next week.
Im not going to use the plate_ the main purpose is just to hold the cams into the top half?
I have another plan- will report back after I try it, and if it works!

If you already have the new lifters I would put all of them in a small bucket or something filled with oil and leave them there till you install them.

I filled the little pill containers that they came in with oil until I did the install/
Review:Not too horrible- it did solve all my noises. The old lifters- well you could squeeze the cold oil out with your fingers! Not to good!
Anyway took it all apart- I used copper wire to lift the the top half off and put it on- made a handle with the wore- looped it from sprocket to sprocket- then put a loop under distributor plate and a loop under cam trigger plate.
Then ran loops from front loop to back loop and twisted it all together nice and toght.
Worked like a champ!
Made the sparkplug threaded rod 2X4 tightening rig- dont reall think that was neccesary either- if one was careful with the bolts and tightened them evenly all around I think it would be ok.
Anyway- the dreading was worse than the doing- maybe 8 hrs total and I milked it.

Glad to hear it worked for you. Did your noise come and go sometimes? Mine is making noise that comes and goes, usually gone after I get off of the highway.
