Loosing coolant slowly
so originaly i would have to top of my coolant reservoir every month or so from so about have reservoir full, now its down to every 3-4 days, i cannot find any leaks in the engine bay. im thinking either heater core or HG im hoping its not the HG there is no white smoke out the exhaust, once and while i smell coolant in the interior but there are no wet spot on the carpet under the core area... unless it drains to outside?

ok checked compression all across the board are within a few psi of each other. i removed my drivers side kick panel and cant see any leaks from the heater core, and the core was replaced in 08 with OEM hella/behr part. i only smell coolant once and a blue moon inside and also none of my plugs were cleaner then one another so im thinking its not the headgasket

I had a slow coolant leak (top off every couple months) for years and finally had it running with the hood up one day and saw just a wisp of steam from the corner of the radiator at the endtank. No drips, just a little steam.
Would smell coolant occasionally as well, pulled the smell in the hvac.

You might be to the point where you break down and get some UV dye made for cooling systems and toss it in there. Drive it a couple days and then get in there with a black light. If you don't have one left over from the sixties you can either buy a slick dedicated UV flashlight at the auto parts store where you get the dye or head off to a hardware store or home improvement big box store and score a regular UV "light bulb" and toss it in your trouble light. That way even if you can't see a wet trail of coolant you should be able to see a glowing spot where it's leaking and evaporating from.

Good call on the UV dye. Before you put the dye in, look under the hood with the light to make sure there are no glowing spots already. Sometimes people have dye from AC leaks etc. in there. If so, clean that stuff off, then add the dye.
Radiators and overflow bottles are the top spots for leaks of your core has already been replaced.

fixed one leak heater hose on engine was leaking on to tranny now today spotted a small puddle under the front of the motor after warmed up and turned off i see nothing but went back out this next morning and another puddle from the same spot looked like it had leaked down the front of the engine behind the intake alternator etc as i seen a few dropplets on the ac compressor but seems to only leak after its been cold and sitting for while could the gasket go on the thermostat housing? thats the only thing i can think of how easy is it to pull the housing?
