Default Lots of Water in Passenger floor area

We just had 4 days of nonstop rain and i noticed when i came out, and this is the second time this has happened, water has soaked the passenger footwell carpet area. I have the car all dried out but has anyone else experienced this. the car is parked on a moderate incline and im curious if it could be coming in the air vents under the hood. as the car was backed out the driveway, more water started pouring in from under the dash directly onto the area that was soaked. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.....

not that it matters, but my 88 porsche also has the same problem with water ending up on the passenger side.... in its case it was the airvents

Thanks Guys

Jeff

Maybe but I doubt it.
I would check the sunroof drains.
Are the cowl drains clogged?

When you lift the hood, it's the plastic area below the windshield wipers. There are two drain tubes, one on each side (driver and passenger) at the base of the plastic area (cowl) - AB

+1
If those are clogged then maybe the climate box will fill with water and leak inside.
But if they are clear I would check the sunroof drains.

When I first got my Yellow R the drains in the trunk area. When you open the trunk on the sides by the back window is drains in the channel. Mine were clogged causing water to stay there and leak some into the trunk.

UPDATE

i took your advice and checked out the drains for the cowl. Sure enough, the drain on the passenger side has probably 8 inches of leaves packed into the tube that drain to the ground. i removed the hose and cleaned it out as it wasnt working with the coat hanger trick. Hopefully that will do it. thank you for you advice it looks like it will pay off

Sincerely

Jeff

Now that i think about it, i do get water in the spare wheel area. what did you use to clean the drains that are in the channels under the trunk. there are 2 that i can see, one on either side of the rear window but under the trunk itself. and for grins where do they drain to (locatation wise)

thank you

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

As for the trunk area drain hoses, I disconnected it and force-fed it with 2 feet long 1/4" drive extension bar. Sure enough, objects beyond my imagination came out[8D].

The bottom of the drain hose is force-fed into what looks like vent panel. You simply remove it forcefully but carefully.

I hope this gives you some hints. Another member had the same problem, and I am not sure if he ever got it fixed. We gave him every possible advice to no avail. That was a mystery.

Kudos to all the previous answers, and I too hope that the drain tube has solved your water issue. As a bit of preventative maintenance, I check the drain hoses for blockage each time I fill up, and completely remove them and clean them out at each oil change.

I unclogged the trunk drain hoses today. There was an inch of water in the spare wheel area, which does not have a drain hole. So I drilled 5 holes and I will be getting some protective paint to avoid rusting.

i thought about doing that. why on earth are there 3 drains that appear to be locked to the car. i found the prongs under the car for them and even after bending them out of the way i could pop them out. at least to me they look like drain holes. i did check and sure enough the back right drain near the trunk is not letting any water through. so i need to figure out if there is a way to get it off the car and clear it out. thank you for all the tips so far it has made a wonderful difference

I used a blow gun and compressed air to clean mine out.
