Default My 1997 volvo 850 wont start need help!

I went to go start my 1997 850 this morning and when I turned the key it started then stopped. I tried it again, all the electrical stuff works and the car makes a clicking noise like its supposed to when its starting...but thats it.

I dont know anything about cars so if you have any idea what could be wrong or how to fix it that'd be a life saver.

Could be a low battery. Try jump starting it first and see if that helps. If not post back here with what symptoms the car is showing and the forum can help.

Hi Erica, welcome to the forum. When you try to start a car rapid clicking means the starter is NOT getting enough battery juice to start the car. Now to SOLVE the problem, because jumping it did not.

What caused the battery to get low? Is it old and damaged? Do you drive very little and the car doesn't have enough time to charge it? Did you leave a light or something on to drain it? Just don't want to see you stranded somewhere.

You might want to swing by a parts store, Oreilly, Autozone, Advance ...... and have them do a test of the battery and alternator. If they tell you something is bad you can always get a second opinion at another store to see if they concur, just for peace of mind.
