Default Mystery vacuum line

This afternoon I was driving down the road in my 94 850 Turbo after just completing a decent tuneup (trans flush, fuel induction cleaning and synthetic oil change) Feeling good, I decided to open her up on a straightaway and took off at full boost.

Immediately after, I realized that my turbo gage stopped working and was stuck in the central position. When I got home, I popped the hood to try and find out where the vacuum line had come disconnected. In doing so, I ran into a dilemma.

I was able to locate the disconnected line. What's strange about this is that the turbo pressure line (where my finger is touching in the photo below) is a black hose but it connects to a white hose that runs across the top of the radiator.

I did find another white hose that was not connected to anything. If you look at the photo below (taken from driver side of vehicle looking across the engine bay) you will see a white hose. It runs under the battery and I found it lodged on the side of the battery not connected to anything. When I tried to connect it to the turbo pressure hose, the engine immediately went to FULL THROTTLE! so I quickly shut off the engine and disconnected it.

I think that someone else had asked about this mystery hose on this site but I can't find the thread. Do you know what that white hose is for?

Maybe you snagged the throttle cable that that line is rigged to somewhat previous owner...

I have not seen it in my car (97 T5), looks "aftermarket"

Still unsure what it is, the car chokes as if one of the air lines is condensing and causing a clog in air flow. Im having my tech look it over in a few days. Should have an answer by then.

Your best bet is to look at the Vacuum Diagram under the hood and follow the lines based on that.

It looks like that white line goes down to the cruise control - I don't think the SAS has a vacuum hose going towards the pump. See if you can look from under the car to find the hose going somewhere. It may help to pull the battery and tray to find where it runs.
