Default Goodyear Eagle GT

I put these Goodyear Eagle GT's on my 95 850 Turbo wagon a couple of months ago, they are a great tire. I researched quite a bit before I decided, I made my final decision after reading this article;

You can also read customer reviews of tires on Tirerack.com

I've got Michelin Energy MXV4+ tires on my 850 now but I too will be needing new tires in the very near future. I'm going to get Michelin Primacy tires this time around (the updated version of the Energy). As I recall the 850 came with this type of tire originally.

When I buy a tire my biggest concern is with all-season performance, as I live in an area with a continental climate and tons of precip (Pittsburgh). This tire does extremely well in snow and ice and also is great on wet roads when we get our torrential downpours in the spring. Of course, the problem with Pittsburgh is that tires don't last too long around here since we are the undisputed pothole capital of the world.

Since my 850 has only ever had this type of Michelin tire I don't have anything to compare the ride against on an 850, but I would rather have safer handling than a softer ride. I also cannot give any recommendations as far as high-speed performance since I always drive the speed limit and most of my driving is city driving (although it has handled nicely and felt extremely safe on its occasional 65mph freeway trips, which I probably should take more often; the reason I don't is that I simply don't go on many vacations).

I would say avoid the Goodyear tires. I'm not happy with my current set right now. My suggestion would be Kumho. The Michelins are really good, but they are also kinda costly.

I use Yokohama YK520s, only from Discount/America's Tire. They are of average cost, around 100 a piece, and perform well. They are for more of the average driver, and not the agressive driver. I got the 205-55r-16 size and they ride really well. I noticed a very good difference of road noise and feel when i got these. Very comfortable. They have a 91H Rating of speed, which is pretty damn fast. Made in the US, Temp - A, Traction - A. UTQG rating of 520, with a 60K tread life rating.

I don't think SO!!!
The potholes on this side of the river, Delaware River i.e., is 10 times worse than any place on earth. Thats the reason tech moved to Tampa. Lol...
Seriously, I have Michelin Primacy on my both Volvo's (they came with my V70). They are great on both snow and ice, also they last longer than any other tires I had on my volvos'.

I vouch for Kuhmos! Great tires with a great price point! I currently run Yokahamas ASVs, on my 850 and seem nice..

Add me to the dissatisfied Goodyear Eagle customer list. I had them on my Acura Legend that I had before the 850 and they were terrible in the snow.

Confused_al: looks like Pittsburgh's got some competition for the title!!!

Also, Mr. Tire currently has a $70 rebate on the Primacys through mid-November if you buy four, so get yours soon if you want them and have a Mr. Tire near you. I'm hopefully getting mine next week!!!

Default Goodyear Eagle GT

I'm only using these as my summer set, I always put my snows on for winter, especially here in Canada. So I guess what tire you decide on depends on what you want them for. Here's another good article;

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

By the way, Legendsecko87, I thought about moving up to the 205 55 16's from the 205 50 16 size, but was worried that there might be some rubbing issues. Have you had any problems, and doesn't it throw off the odometer reading? Probably a more comfortable ride though, I would imagine.

Well I have GoodYear Eagle F1's...not good in the snow but wear has been great, and dry bite is wonderful...they are low profile and improve looks...but pot holes are not their cup of tea.

I usually go with Michelins. However, we put a set of the Fuzion HRi on my sons 850. So far we've been pleased with the performance of the tire. Pretty good price too. I think they were under $100 USD each.

I hope this isn't thread jacking.

I haven't had any problems that I know of. I saw some rubbing, but not that much. When I started putting money in the car that's what I had on there, Dunlop SP60 205 55 16s. I've driven by some speed counters and they seem correct. Next time I see a county sheriff around here I'll see if I can have him clock me after I set cruse control.

I plan to get a set of Primacy's for my 960 soon. I have Kumho's on my 850, 17" low profile tires. I really like the price of the Kumhos but I think I will try Michelins next time.

BTW, Pittsburgh has the Gold Medal on pot holes. I lived there for 17 years and have driven almost all over the country. I have actually seen wheels torn off of cars on the road in Pittsburgh. Go around Pittsburgh if you own low profile tires.

Rspi--you hit the nail on the head with Pittsburgh, potholes, and the subject of low-profile tires. I too have seen this madness, especially on any road called "the parkway" (regardless of direction). What part of Pittsburgh were you from?

Since we're on the subject of tires, at what interval does everyone recommend rotation for an 850 in terms of time, not mileage? Mr. Tire does it for free if you buy your tires there and I was hoping to get on a regular schedule and since I'm in an area where tires wear out at an accelerated rate I was wondering if these tires should be rotated at a rate other than 5000-6000 miles.
