Default Need PN for piece on manual shifter for 850

I called FP Groton today and they basically said without a PN I'm sol. There is a white plastic clip that goes on the base of the shifter on a manual tranny in my 850. Does anyone know that part number or where I can find it? I'm having to push down slightly to select 1st and 2nd and want to get it fixed before I let my wife start driving it daily.

Not entirely sure what clip you're talking about but here is a break down of the M56 shifter assembly with part numbers. Hope you can identify what you're needing. By your description, it soundslike you figure number 12 in the diagram, P/N 966237.Name: M56Shifterassembly-1.png

No problem. Glad I was able to help you out there. If FCP doesn't have it in stock, you can get it from www.volvowholesaleparts.com for $36.08

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL INSTALLING THAT PART. I had to replace that piece as well, the clips on the side are NOTORIOUS for snapping off, and that's why you're having to push down to shift. You need to use two clamps, one over each clip, and SLOWLY tighten them simultaneously to snap it into place. Also, make sure to use a really good lubricant and clean off all of the old stuff. It is also recommended to put the collar in a pot of HOT water for a little while before you install it to soften it up a bit, I did this and it was just an extra measure to ensure that the clips didn't break off.

There is a write up on VS somewhere on how to install the piece by one of the moderators, I don't know where it is, you'd have to search.

I don't exactly remember where it is, but it's by the moderator named oreo IIRC.

Ok on Snabbs website I went to order both the delrin bushings and the short shift kit and I can't order the bushings. It says they are not for sale. Any ideas?

They're out of stock and won't be in stock for 3 weeks. Anyone else make them?

Not to my knowledge. I'd wait for Snabb's to be ready.
I have them in my 850R with the short shift kit and stainless steel shifter cable bushings.
I'd highly recommend them.

I was as careful as possible and took every possible precaution and that over priced piece of **** broke....the new one. Also I am not sure what dumbass designed the shift **** that you can't remove, but I hope he dies a slow and extremely painful death all alone

Lol, Sorry to hear about your troubles. You can however remove the shift ****. You just have to pull straight up really hard. Make sure you don't hit yourself in the face when the **** comes loose though, I've heard it happen a few times and I'd imagine it might hurt just a tad. Lol.

Well I'm 6'2" and about 260 lbs. I put every bit of *** I had on the shift **** and it wouldn't budge. I wonder if you drilled 4 small holes and put 4 small set screws in the piece if it'd hold? It secure it at more places than stock, more securely than stock, and cure the stupid *** clips.
