Need To Replace Starter?

I have a '97 850 wagon that just started making a noise the first 0.5 sec after turning the key. Starts OK but I'm guessing I might have a problem with the (original) starter motor. I've done some but not all of my own work on this car. Would like to know how complicated is the job of replacing the starter?
