New 850 Turbo owner. First Volvo!
Hello all!
Just drove home a 1995 850 Turbo Sedan(53k mi) from Carmax and I love it. The turbo is real nice, the sunroof is ginormous and the a/c blows arctic! So what do I need to do to acclamate myself to the swedish lifestyle? Are there any swedish gremlins i need to be on the lookout for? Does the turbo need any special maintenance, or the car in general? What's the standard life of a volvo turbo? Can I slap in an ECU upgrade for some extra ponnies? Thanks!

The best way to extend the life of your turbo -- Before turning off the engine, allow the engine to idle at 800-1000 rpms for 15-30 seconds (longer after extended trips). This allows oil to cycle thru oil cooler. If using conventional oil, avoid 10W40 and 5W30. I use straight 30W in the summer.

The single best performance mod is a full 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust with free-flow cat and muffler. Have a local exhaust shop build one for you.

The Flo-Pro muffler has proven itself to beat the competition with a louvered pipe design, which accelerates the exhaust flow through the muffler. The louvers also give you a deep performance sound without the use of fiberglass that eventually blows out. The Flo-Pro mufflers are also designed to boost the horsepower generated from your vehicle.

Avoid Flowmaster as they are designed for normally aspirated V8 engines.
