new engine block? or rebuild it?

Grigalid: When you say "rebuilt engine block" im not sure what you are talking about. Generally engine blocks are not "rebuilt"
i think that a junk yard would be an excellent source for you to find a block, if that is in fact what you need.
If you need a complete motor, then it's gonna depend on a lot of things - your budget, your mechanical ability, the time frame you need to have it done in, etc... If you have the mechanical ability, then I say go for the rebuild yourself. Volvo engines are not the most complex out there...in fact i think they are pretty easy. If you dont have the ability (or tools, or space) then i would ask around to some machine shops that specialize in engine building and select one. having a motor rebuilt is still gonna be cheaper than getting another car.
