Cool New T5-R sedan owner

I've been a huge Volvo "R" for years and last week I became an owner

I purchased a yellow 1995 T5-R sedan from the second owner with 74,xxx miles. My T5-R needs love to bring it to its former glory.

I was hoping the community could help me with several items:

1. The female I purchased the T5-R from removed the factory turbo airbox and replaced it with a cone filter. Is the T5-R airbox the same as any factory turbo model such as 850R, T5 and so on? Does anyone have suggestions as to where I can find a factory turbo airbox?

2. She also misplaced the owners manuals during a move. Is the T5-R owners manual special or is it the same as a 850 manual of the same year?

3. The back rest of the seats sag to one side and no longer adjust from the switch. Is there a documented fix or do I need to take the seats to an upholster shop?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

No 1 - All turbos should be the same. Salvage yard, craigslist, ebay or advertise wanted in the classifieds here, Volvospeed etc.

No 2 - Should be the same as 850, salvage yard, craigslist, ebay

No 3 - If the back rest isn't working there is a fix for that but the sagging I'm not sure about.

Or you can try the "backyard racing" version in the picture

Hi Rennen, welcome to the forum.

It will do you good to read the "New 850 Owner" thread and the "DIY - Helpfull Info Thread".

The first 850 I purchased only had about 78,000 miles on it as well. They are pretty easy to clean up. Have fun.

The airboxes differ between years. 96+ have an air pump and will have an extra fitting on them for it. Being a T-5R you will want to stay in the 94-95 area for the box.

For what it's worth, neither my '96 or '97 850R's have air pumps or fittings in the airbox for them.

I want to personally thank everyone for responding! I'm excited to be apart of this tight knit community Just placed an expensive order with IPD. Unfortunately the only maintenance performed regularly was engine oil and air filter changes.

Starting today, I will start looking for a factory "Turbo" airbox from '94-'97.

I'm having the T5-R professionally buffed (3 stage) and getting interior steam-cleaned within the next two weeks. I promise to post pictures after those items are completed.

From my research, the '95 T5-R is the same as '96-'97 850-R correct?

Another question, I don't have the factory remote, who should a purchase a spare factory key & remote fob?

Thank you!

Welcome to the site, I'm really looking forward to seeing pics of your car. What's your location, maybe someone local to you has the parts you need (and wants to get rid of them!), and it's nice to get to know your locals. I can't speak for mechanical differences, but I do know the interior looks very similar. Big thing is the pattern is reversed, my cars have the suede where yours is leather. Also, if your car currently has the correct floormats, with yellow 850 embroidered in them, HOLD ON TO THEM. Hard to find and specific to that year.

Congrats on the car OP. I look forward to seeing pics too. They really are great cars.

Thanks for that info. I just realize that I have the original mats in mine. The fronts are too worn out to see the yellow stitching, but it is obvious in the rear mats.

850 Comrades,

Today I confirmed the 1995 850 T5-R's exported to North America had a special exterior swede cover for the owners manuals.

I'll be posting a picture
