my 1993 850 Volvo .
went get car smogged , everything seemed ok except the check engine light did not light up when ignition was turned on.

Are there individual bulbs for each icon?

Pull unfortunately. Its really not too tough. You can get the cluster out by pulling the pad off from the drivers side all the way to the passenger Airbag. It can be lifted enough to get it out. I have done it twice. I cant remember where I found the instructions to do it but it was a forum.

 

Replaced bulb, now check engine light on all the time.
checked OBD, A 2, 1-1-1 = no faults
Tried to reset by holding button down for 7 seconds x 2
Light still on.
Does A- 2 only affect the CEL ?
