Default Noise behind right headlight

I've been hearing a grinding noise right behind my right side headlight assembly. It sounds like something is running and about to fail. At first I thought it was coming from the alternator or power steering pump. But then I noticed it makes the noise when the engine is not running. What is in or near the headlight assy that would make that noise?

Thanks,
HH

Do you have head light wipers?

Yes, I do have them. They are not moving when I was investigating hte noise, but then again they may be broken.... I really do not care about the light wiper so I've never checked if they work or not...

Do they come on when you turn on the normal wipers or is there a seperate switch for the light wipers? My normal wipers work alright, they are not always on.

Thanks,
HH

I just looked at it. The wiper was stuck under a plastic tab below the headlight. I unhooked it and it made 2 swipes and stopped making the noise. I guess it needed to "park" maybe??

I ran the wipers for a few seconds and never saw the headlight wipers run at all. What makes them go?

Thanks,
HH

Default noise behind headlight

The headlight wipers only work when the screen washer is operated and I think lights on.

They will go every time you use the washers. they dont move with the reg wipers.
This is a common problem, after replacing my motors 3 times over the last 16 years I just pulled them out and got the trim without the holes from the u-pick
You can disconnect the plug to the motors and never have to worry about them again.

Give me a couple minutes and ill tale a pic of the plug you need to pull..

sounds like if its not that then its your sas/EGR pump.

supposed to run when the cars cold, can make screeching noises, grinding, but it shouldnt be on all the time.
Eventually it may give you a CEL.
