That light is the "lambda light", the same as a check engine light. Read the codes from port A-2 and post them back.

The lambda symbolseemed to have beenavailable to allmodels except the U.S models. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

>change the lambda sensor?
Bull $hit. There is no such a thing called the lambda sensor. If it was told by a shop, forget the shop. If it was told by a friend, end the friendship[8D]. If it was told by an attorney, sue him/her[8D].

hello again everyone thanks for help already. just realised that although the car is a 95 plate it actually has the 16 pin connector located under the coin slot inside the car,my guess is that its a late 95 ie maybe thats when they started switching over??!! ant help with that appreciated.
ive just got the car towed back to my house by the rac,who reckon either the crankshaft sensor or the fuel relay??.basically there saying that the pump is working but theres no spark!!!could a faulty immobilizer do this? with regards to the codes,i want to purchase one of them obd2 fault finders myself but dont know where to start!!!!! thanks all, hope i can find this asap or else the volvo gets it!!!!!!!!!!!gggggggrrrrrrrrrr[:@]

Be very careful buying an OBD reader.

I have a 95 T5 with an OBD2 port (only supposed to be on 96+ models) and no one but the dealer seems to be able to read it (I also have my lambda light on), even an autospark who'd just spent over £40k on new equipment could read the bl**dy thing.

Although I'd be very interested if someone has actually managed to get hold of a reader that works.

Some 850s came with OBD-II port in '94, see my signature.

Faulty immobiliser could have caused it, Moderator Tech or Ozark Lee could tell you better, or faulty Camshaft Position Sensor can also prevent spark during start.

As to an OBD-II scanner, you wouldhave to buy one in your country to match the protocol. Axelm of Argentina could tell you better on this.

Cheers mate,

All of the turbo models had an OBD-II port (even the '94) but on your '95 you should have both the OBD-II port and the under hood boxes. Look near the windshield washer fluid filler for boxes with A and B on them. If you have them, those are your OBD-I test ports. Many European cars were a model year ahead of the US spec carsso it is possible that your '95 is only OBD-II.

I don't think your immobilizer has a problem as it kills the starter function.

Hi Lee,

My T5 has the OB1 diagnostic system (the two small modules at the front of the vehicle). It was manufactured in late November 1994 and is apparently, according to Volvo, a 1995 model. Are you suggesting it also has an OB2 system under the ashtray as well?

Hey now, at least it is a form of vehicle, and gets ∞miles/gallon and is extremely environmentally-friendly........[sm=headbang.gif]

Home-made OBD-II-to-OBD-I converters can be fabricated, but the 2 images seem to point at different pins. Anyone know which pin is to the fuel control ECU?

On an Aussie car I'm not sure. If you have a slotted coin holder in front of the shifter I would say yes, if you have a small tray instead of the slotted one I would say no.

whhooaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!hi all thought i would let you all know what the hell it was stopping my 850 t5 from starting!!!! the flipping CRANKSHAFT sensor.. basically i called out a (very good) auto electrician to read some codes. as it went the car didn"t give out any codes so he traced the problem to the crank sensor!!bit strange but there we have it!!!!when i pulled it out it was buggered!!!the best bit was though i went to my local scrappy to get a sensor, which he actually let me have for free!!!!!there you go moral of the story start at the basics i guess!!!!!CHEERS ALL.....

Sounds like you found one of the few honest good people left in the world today. Glad you got the car running.
