Default Noob Question

I have a problem with my AC. Both my REC and AC off lights are blinking. After a self diagnostic, the code given was a 4 - 1 - 8 (No control signal to Blower Fan Power stage). I have checked the blower and I'm getting about 11.94 - 11.98 volts coming through but my fan will NOT engage or turn on at all. Do u think that I have blown out the blower motor or do u think its the ECC that has gone bad or something else? I would really like some help with this problem. Any advise would be great.

If you have 12volts at the blower motor and it is not operating. Make sure you have continuity to ground on the solid black wire. If so, bad blower motor.Good hunting!

I agree with Bitter356.

If you connect the fan to 12 volts and ground and the fan does not run then the fan is done .

You have a bad power stage. The fan always has battery voltage on one side and the speed is varied through a MOSFET transistor inside the power stage which is tied to ground.

I would take the blower motor out and bench test it. If it checks good, reset the codes, put the motor back in and see if the problem repeats itself. Agree....good hunting!

Sorry about the late response but a while back i bench tested the blower motor and it automatically turned on. I replaced the power stage but nothing changed, my a/c still won't work. But i forgot to mention that before i did a trani rebuild, the a/c worked and upon finishing the trani the a/c wouldn't work at all and i was getting a 4 - 1 - 8 code. Is there something near the transmission that would have caused this problem? Love to hear back from anyone.

Found out the problem with the A/C. It was the blower motor resistor. My spare one off my parts car must have been bad too. So i ordered a new one through Volvo and it worked no problem. Thanks for all the helpful posts guys.
