One alternative.

Could you elaborate on what the problem is again? The ECU not receiving signal from new vehicle speed sensor?

here it is. I have a 97 volvo 850 non turbo... I swapped a 95 volvo 850-

Engine
Engine Wire Harness
Transmission
Ecu
Tcu
and Cluster....

Everthing works great... but Im not getting a speedo signal... so I am guessing maby the wiring going from the TCU to the cluster gets a signal from a different spot. Please let me know what you think.

There are a few speed sensors installed, but if you are referring to the speedometer being inoperative, then you may have trouble in the ABS module as the ABS module sends speed signal to the speedometer.

Any codes?

My question is how a 95 is OBDI.

I had a 95 GLT for a while that was OBDII.

Is that one of those mid-year production changes?

I hate those...lol

Yes midyear producton. The OBDII on those cars only work for the engine codes.

ok, I think I came up with a good idea.... so from what ive heard, correct me if I am wrong, the 96 and up volvo 850's use the same pulse signal as the signal given off by the abs sensor.... so if I tap into that signal and use it as my speed sensor it should work.... as long as I switch back to my 96 transmission conrol unit instead of my 95 unit, and also make sure that the pinout from the vss goes to the proper pinout on the tcu... what do you guys think?
