Obx exhaust

Obx exhaust
Ok I'm wanting to buy an aftermarket exhaust. I've been looking at obx bc it seems like a decent product for a good price. The thing I'm wondering is that I have a 95 850t and it seems there is something I need to get welded. What's the exact deal? I just bought $300 worth of tools and I'm gonna do the install myself. What should I expect or do I have alternatives?

I think its about 350$ at http://www.sparktecmotorsports.com/ex11111.html
I LOVE mine. They do give you two downpipes which was nice because I went from running a 15g straight flange to a 16t angled flange and I didn't have to weld or buy new pipe. not to mention they sound pretty good!

Well that's hard to say because when I was installing it, I notice the wastegate actuator wasn't hooked up so I was never boosting. I fixed that while installing so there was a lot of power gain but not all from exhaust. I did notice that it breathes better though and i think its the only or at least one of few exhausts that uses 3" all the way back. Most that I've seen start with a 3" downpipe and go to 2.5". Bottom line, it's shiny so buy it lol.

For me, it fit PERFECT! I have heard however, that on sedans, the tip sticks out a little farther. Some ppl actually cut it and couple it back together. Here is my friends sedan with the same exhaust (uncut) to give you a better idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=refIOoQOZZM. As far as sound, in the summer, I drive with the windows down so I don't notice it till I get into it. With the windows up it sounds slightly louder than stock but not too droneful. It's quiter than most cars I've had.

very decent SS exhaust when new.
HOWEVER, don't even think OBX will support their lifetime warranty.
I had a problem with a cracked flex joint in my v70T5 downpipe. After over 3 months trying to get them honor their warranty through my dealer, I had no choice but to repair it. Then OBX said, since I had fixed it they now considered the downpipe modified and won't warranty it. TOTAL BS.
They could of done this with a normal charge and refund exchange like every other honorable company does before I had no choice, but to have the pipe professionally repaired..
Luckily, I still had the other turbo downpipe, (obx comes with 2 for both types of turbo flange). I carefully cut the flex joints off each downpipe and had the good one welded on to replace the crack one.

A new OBX system comes with both a straight and angled flange down pipes. It does not have a conical. '95 turbo engines usually have the conical and there in lies a problem. Easiest thing to do is modify the pipe but the better choice is to replace the turbos exhaust housing so you can use one of the OBX downpipes without modification.
