Default ODOMETER

I have a 1996 850 GLT with 138,000 miles. The odometer just stop working a week ago. The dealer wants about $600 to replace it. I took the whole instrument panel out and looked at the odometer. Can this one be repaired or does it have to be replaced? Anyone out there with this info please respond.

You can buy and replace the one very small gear under the electric motor. The dealer sells them for like $15.00-$20.00 fro the gear. The price might not be accurate but maybe close.Be careful with the blue gear that is in there.I don't think you can buy them yet.You will get the little white gear.

What happens is that a couple of the teeth break off and the gear stops moving.
