Usual story, the odometer doesn't work - broken gears... OK, I have a spare VDO cluster and take it to a speedo repair guy, he has the gears but rings me up and tells me I have the wrong odo motor - something about mine being a 2 wire and I need a 4 wire. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find a new replacement odometer motor? I have trolled the internet with no luck. Appreciate any help.

 

Are you trying to get the spare fixed to swap into your car?

 

Sounds like that is what he is trying to do. I would think it would be easier to simply fix the old cluster.

Yes, I want to put the original cluster back in the car but the odo motor is incompatible (or so I'm told). All the links for odo parts are for the gears - what I'm after is just the small electric motor. I know it looks like the proverbial needle but thought I'd at least ask around...

 

There was like 4 different clusters. Remove yours and replacing the gear then reinstalling would be about the best bet.
