Default odometer/tripometer

Hi there! I have a 1995 850 turbo wagon. Not too long ago I noticed my tripometer and odometer stopped working. Is this something my very mechanical husband can repair/replace? I read something online about the gear possibley being broken. How do we get into the area to check it out. Under the hood, inside the dash? Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance.

Yes it is well within DIYer's capability but you need Torx bits (for star-shaped fasteners).

A good idea while you have it apart is to replace any burnt out bulbs in the instrument cluster as well
