i got my replacement engine and trans - now the question is do i want to do complete swap or is it possible to swap short block and head with pistons
both engines are b5234t-- just need advice on whether its possible
i would assume that as long as i change the pistons with the new block ill be fine

Welcome back!!!!!
Why not just swap the complete assembly and go for now?
And if something is not right swap the parts over later?

This way you can get the car running quicker and cheaper for the moment.

i would but i gotta swap the whole motor and i really dont have the time to do it all again - plus the fact that all the parts on other engine are new ( the one i rebuilt 3 times )all i needed was the short block to replace the one i have thats cracked cyl #5 and ill use the pistons and head off the new one dont you think that would be easier

Well you have to buy a new headgasket and sealer if you are low on it.
I figured it would just be easier to drop the engine and tranny in as one and go.

it would take a LOT less time to do a complete motor and trans swap than it would to pull a motor, tear down two motors, rebuild one, and install one. That's the route I would take personally - just swap them out.
