could this be linked to the knocking i am hearing going over bumps?

yeap your mounts could possibly been shot.

Strut mount. Spring Seats usually go bad as well.

Is that a picture of your 760 ??

I haven't taken my front struts apart yet. I've seen the tool for that little cross but is it under the regular hex nut ??

I'm trying to figure out what that cross nut tightens up against and if they have them on the 850's ??

Pic 1 = Shock mount

Pic 2 = Spring seat

Pic 3 = Top nut on my strut
