Hi Everyone,

When I was under the hood of my 1998 V70, I noticed that a hose was dangling from what looks to be the housing for the air filter. The hose is roughly a foot long, and is pretty small in diameter. I cannot figure out where the other end of this hose plugs into, I've looked everywhere in the vicinity of the air filter, and don't see another connector missing a hose.

I've attached a picture of the connector (with the connector circled in yellow) that had the hose attached if that helps. :-)

Also, if this hose is disconnected what will happen to the engine ?

There is 2 fittings there.
1.Goes around to the front under the box to a valve.
2.The other goes over to the motor. Should be a white hard plastic line.

 

Thanks tech, do you know what part of the motor the other connector is on ? I can't seem to find where the other end of the hose connects, and I have looked all over that side of the engine.

 

I will have to try to look tomorrow I forget exactly which port it connects to.

 

Thanks tech. Upon closer inspection, it appears that there are two connectors leading from the airbox, now I am really confused !

 

Yes there is 2 on the air box.
One goes around to the front of the air box where the fresh air hose goes from the radaitorto the air box.
The other goes to the engine. Please forgive me I keep forgetting to look.
I can't just look at mine either mine doesn't have it.
