Default PCV related questions

first off my name is Anton im new to the forum
I have an 94 850 turbo. I have decided to replace the pcv because of a smoking dipstick. the system has been replaced before and the oil trap is empty yet the dipstick is still smoking i was wondering what could cause that and the system i got from fcp has a hose that i dont have in the system installed on the car right now its kinda hard to explain it like that but the hose from fcp has 2 hoses wrapped together where as my system right now only has one .

thanks for the help
Anton

Welcome to the forum!

First off, your catch can will most likely be empty. The kit replaces the various hoses that fail because of age. Plus, the holes from the engine to the catch can get clogged, so you'll need to clean them out. I've seen some pics of holes that were completely clogged up with a hard build-up, so you may have to scrape it with a screwdriver or something.

If you look closely, you do have the same two-in-one hose. The two hoses are wrapped together.

Justin has a great write-up here: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...hp?f=1&t=28487

And another good one:
