hey guys im in the process of buying my buddys 97 volvo 850, its got a blow head gasket and we are fixing it right now.

when its all said and done im going to want to do some performance mods and i really dont know much about 5cyls so thats why i joined here.

I have a SCT Xcalibrator ford tuner and im just wondering if a tune can be written for my volvo instead of getting a new ecu or however these cars are normally tuned (i just sent a message to SCT asking the same question).

in addition to that what will i need to bump up the hp of this car? i already saw the turbo back obx exhaust, so thats definetly on the list.

also looking for a loud blow off valve, i have never had a turbo car and im fasinated with a bov so i just need a loud one for a few months to get it out of my system.

any other tips on how to tune this car would be aprreciated.

today i put chrome 18's on it, 10,00055w low beams and 55w 6000k high beams, also going to tint the windows myself (done several cars) this weekend. so please let me know on some of the performance aspects of this car that i can improve.

and yes unfortunatly its an automatic, might try to change that soon after seeing the write up.

 

There are a few tuners already out there for our Volvos, check the performance threads and you will find the list of tuners. I would make sure to do a Stage 0 prior to doing performance work...

Guy I'm wondering what is the highest safe pressure to turn boost to? And what mods I should have to do so, I already have an intake and will have PVC exhaust , stage 0 almost complete just did all fluids, car has brand new t belt and head gasket
