Default POLL - Choosing Wheels For my 850 R.

I talked a bit about this in my other thread but I figured I would get a general consensus via a poll and see what everyone thought. I think I have narrowed my wheel choice down to the Motegi 116's. I will choose a 17 inch, and prob go with 215/45/R17's. These fit my budget, seem to get favorable reviews, and I think they just "fit" the car. They are very similar to the R wheels (which I would get in a heartbeat) except I can actually afford them at $140 each. The only thing I don't like is the dual spacing, but oh well, I hear you can get plugs for it.

EDIT: Thank you, ibified, for this link. I am adding this to the poll option:

Volvo 850 17" X 7" Alloy Wheel Sales - Buy 1996_1997 Volvo 850 ALLOY WHEEL, 17 X 7, 5 STUDS/LUGS, 108MM BOLT DIA, 7 SPOKES, 43MM OFFSET, CHARCOAL, UNIVERSAL; 43MM OFFSET; "VOLANS" ALL CHARCOAL at discount price!

Anyways....the car which is getting repainted in a month or so:

Here is one of those simulations showing the black with Red:

They don't show the other options, but I also like the plain silver. There is also black with silver.

Black with red:

Black with silver:

And all around silver:

Really torn on this. The car is a rocket- and I think the rims/tires should match that theme. I DO NOT want the "boy racer" look, as I think this type of car is a whole different league then just about any Civic, VW or "rice burner". I'm not 18. Still, the black and red appeals to me.

So, completely banning the "do what YOU want" answer, tell me what YOU think. Out of these, which would YOU do?

Ummm...wow. Tempting. Very tempting. Changing polls.

Question: Did this particular style come on the '96 R?

Bummer! Out of stock. I was so excited. I have looked up the part number online- everyone is out of stock or wants $170 a pop for them. Not gunna pay that much. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open.

Deed is done. Just paid a bunch of money to a guy in PA who is shipping me a set of Volans. After visiting the website, I found out my intended supplier was OUT! After calling 10 (literally) other suppliers, no one had them. Hit the online classified, and finally a set turned up. Good news: Same price as the retailers, just used. Better news: Comes with good tires that are the right size. Bad news: Paying for shipping across the US. Ugh.

I personally am glad to see you went with Volans. They look fantastic on a black 855R! Of course, they look even better on my white 855R! HA HA

I am a big fan of OEM upgraded wheels (usually). I just feel those other wheels above would have looked out of place. But, that's just me.

In this case I agree- typically I don't care much stock wheels on sports cars. They are just too common. Volvo did it right by offering a lot of options. I just like these rims, and you don't see them very much. I would not be too surprised if I was the only one in our area (615k in our valley) with them. I know there are two T5-R's here. Not sure if there are any R's. I have been watching.

Well poop!

I hit a pothole today on the interstate. Hard. Was impossible to avoid, and now I have a formerly round Volan that is now round most of the way around with a rather large flat spot.

And of course, this happens a day after the cheap new Volans get sold out!

Guess I'll be on the prowl for a decent used one! Anybody holding and want to sell 1-2 of them in decent shape?
