ok, so i was driving my 93 850 with auto transmission today, and i was sitting at a stoplight. Then i tried to accelerate when the light turned green. Almost nothing happened. The car barely started rolling forward and got to about 10, i pulled off the side of the road and noticed the engine was also running quite rough. It was idling between 600-750 and sounding bad... I turned it off and let it sit about ten minutes. I started it up and it sounded better in park... When i shifted into drive it ran badly as before for thirty seconds or so, then sounded better. However, when i push the gas it doesnt go past 3000 when engaged to the transmission. When im in park or neutral it will go beyond that but slowly, as if i had hit the gas about 60% of the way during driving conditions, even though there is no load on the car. I drove it home (about a mile) and checked fluids, tranny fluid was a bit low, and i topped it off, didnt seem burnt though. Ive let it cool about an hour now, hoping that perhaps its nothing more than not liking the cold, but i tried it again and its still doing the slow acceleration thing... any ideas?

 

might be a bad fuel pump happened with my mom's lexus(i know it's a lexus not a volvo, but still)

 

Also, check the temperature control sensor. We recently had ours go bad on our 95 and the engine ran really rought as well. Is your check engine light on?
