Volvo 850 Made from 1993 to 1997, this Volvo line was available in both a wagon and a sedan, both with were graced with several trim levels.

Possibly most destroyed 850 that use to run. Whats the best option?

Unhappy Possibly most destroyed 850 that use to run. Whats the best option?

96 850 with 225,000

It's got very ugly fast here. The CV joints are shot, as well as the shocks, struts, and radiator fan. The radiator cracked on the highway because it blew a head and then the antifreeze poured into the oil. I didn't figure all this till after the rad was fixed. Yesterday i went to move it, the axel spine broke and it's immovable now. It's a matter of time before the engine seizes.

Brand new windshield($300), radiator($300), control arms($160), heater core($80), tires($212), and fuel filter($15).

It's UNFIXABLE. Cost versus return. The way i see it, i have 3 options.

1. sell the whole thing and take what little i can get for it.

2. part it out and then junk it.

3. keep it for parts and get another 850

advice guys?

thats a straight up crappy situation to be in. personaly if you have the time and space parting it out is your best choice.

your not going to get to much if you try and sell it (maybe $400 or something)

keeping it for parts is only good if you know exactly what your buying. but even if you keep it for parts your not going to make back what you lost

parting it out you can prolly make about $1300 (roughly give or take)

Yea, I have tools but space is not something I can spare.

Basically I'm searching for an 850 wagon or sedan that has a little over a 100k.
Something that I can run for another 2-4 years.

I've found it difficult to find a car as good of quality for as low of price than another 850.
I guess I'll be searching for something from the south, they're in so much nicer shape down there. Go figure
