Default AC Compressor won't run -- have checked most everything

Hi,

The compressor doesn't engage. More accurately, the clutch does not engage. I can force it to engage by sending 12v to the green wire going to the compressor clutch. When I do, the clutch engages, the 134 amount reads as good, and the car cools off.

I have jumped the pressor sensor, and I have switched the relay and fuse with known good ones.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

If your pressure switch is OK, then pretty sure you have a control panel problem... You can get a used one or open the one you have and look for a break in the circuit board, then refloat the solder.

The car is a 95 960. The problem was a broken/damaged wire leading to the compressor. I had somehow caused that doing the alternator replacement. After checking the relay and confirming that power was being switched to the compressor wire and knowing that the compressor clutch would function if power reached it, then I was confident enough in the broken wire theory to track it down.
