Pulsed Secondary Air Injector Pump.
The air pump in the secondary air injection system on my Grandsons 850 has died. The pump had picked up water from an unknown source. We checked in local salvage yards and every pump also had water. A new pump is very big bucks. Can an otherwise functioning pump be used if the water is blown out by intermittent running with a car battery?
Thanks Ray & Grandson

The sas pump is pointless, once that check valve goes bad your stuck. There is no point to replace it just remove it.
There is a procedure to removing it and running with out it found here

once the jumper diode has meen installed you can remove the entire sas system. You will just have to get a upper air box cover that does not have the sas port inlet on it.

I was talking about visual inspection, no state is going to look for a sas pump.
