Default Secondary air pump relay

I had P0410 come on, found the air pump full of water and not working. Replaced the pump but the pump still will not come on, (I know it's suppsed to come on in the morning when engine is cold, should run for a minute or so). Replaced pulse secondary air injection system pump relay. Still no go. I have taken the cover off the relay and can manually trip the realy and get the pump to come on. At this point I am guessing that the controller is not sending a signal to trip the relay. I have not reset the error code. Do I need to have someone with a scanner reset the code? I did disconnect the battery and the code went away for a few days then came back. Any ideas?

Let me refrase. What do I do to get rid of P0410? By fixing the problem should the code go away on it's own? Or, does it need to be erased by a scanner?

OK, so I had the code erased by a scanner. But, the pump still does not come on! Again, I know the pump works because I can manually trip the relay to get it to work.

So now a new question, what else could be causing this error code?

Did you also have an ECT code?

The coolant temp sensor needs to read totally cold for the pump to come on.

nope, P0410 is the only code. I wonder if there is a break in the wire between the controller and the relay???

Possible but not common.
