Will I need to buy some sort of sealant when replacing the intake manifold gasket?

 

I didn't use any when I did mine.

Nope pretty much stay in place cause the bottm bolts stay in. You loosen them to take the manifold off then remove them, put the gasket on them and turn them in just a little bit. Then you set the manifild on the bottom bolts.

 

In order to avoid confusion while doing the job and be S.O.L. I'm going to ask a few questions to clear things up. It may help some others too in the long run. Feel free to answer or just ignore. I am referring to this write up;

Under step 6 referring to the fuel line he writes;
"I had to cut mine and replaced it with a new fuel hose. Given how tightly the replacement hose fit I wouldn't even try to remove the new one I installed if I needed to remove it, I'd cut that one as well. (C) When I replaced the hose I used 1/4" SAE 30R6KX tubing but it was pretty difficult to put it on. Others recommended using a slightly larger 5/16" fuel line hose."

Was it necessary to cut the fuel line in order to get the manifold off? In following pictures it does not appear to be cut. Am I missing the concept here?

 

Cut it! Unless it is relatively new and slides off easily. The manifold is coming forward (away from the engine) and the fuel rail is still attached to the manifold so they're going to seperate from each other.

As far as the correct fuel line size, ck with Tech to be sure, but i just used some old metric stuff i had left over in my tool box from my bimmer dealership days. Looks like 8mm X 13mm (ID X OD).

 

Is a specific tubing necessary. Can I pick up somewhere like O'reileys or Autozone?

 

You can use any generic gas compatible material tubing. Most of the tubings you but from these stores are actually made for auto use and are compatible for gas application. regarding size, i would go with whatever feels right when installed but will still lean for the one which goes little hard on the pipes.

 

Help! I am trying to get my intake manifold off on my '99 S70. There is a metal fuel line coming up through the manifold where it turns into a rubber line before going into the fuel rail. How do I remove that line? Does it have to be cut?

 

Is the PCV system any different for non Turbo engines? I have a 95 850 GLE.

Little simpler on non-turbo engines. the lines that go to the PTC (intake hose) on turbo just make their way to flame trap (throttle body) only on n/a engines.Rest all is same.
