Default Question on a turbo rebuild

Ok so I am rebuilding a TD-04 15G out of my 96 850 turbo. I ran into a little problem though. The lock washer/snap washer/i don't know what the heck this thing is called washer, that secures the intake side of the turbine to the CRHA got bent. That is the new one out of the kit. When I snapped it in place it got bent. My problem now is, I don't really want to shell out a bunch of cash to get a whole nother kit. Does any one have suggestions on this?
Thanks,

I will be posting a picture tonight, ran out of batteries on the camera. As for buying a new one I would love to but I can not seem to find one. And I do not want to throw just anything into my turbo, I would hate for it to be the wrong metal or something and end up all fused up inside the turbo... I sent the guys at G-Pop Shop a email seeing if they could send me just a washer.

Picture in a few, thanks guys.

Thats not a clip, its the oil seal. Sort of like rings on a piston.

When it snapped into place inside the CRHA it bent the ring. I straightened it out a little but the wheel does not spin freely when it is installed with it right now.

If you look at my PDF write up, there are the genuine MHI part numbers, You should be able to go the any performance shop and order just that ring. I also think I have a new one in the garage, let me know if you need it we can work something out.

Yeah I have your write up bookmarked ha. It is what I have been using, along with the guy from the UK's write up. I just put the new ring on order from G-Pop Shop yesterday. Cost me 20 bucks for that stupid little thing. I am still not entirely sure why it bent. I mean the housing is set up to center it and compress it on its way in. Not sure what I did wrong one of the ends got bent up out of the groove. Weird...

Anyways, Tuesday I get the new part. Hoping the the Black Wagon will be back on the road by Wed.

Thanks everyone!

I had the same problem withe the first 3 turbos that I rebuilt... the ring is a bit** but there is a trick...
1. slide it on just like you do a piston ring
2. put very light pressure on the wheel while slowly turning it to find that sweet spot, you will feel it, its a very small window but you will feel it.

3. lift it up a tiny bit and then put it down and it usually pops right in..

If it doesnt than a o-ring or seal might be slightly off so make sure every thing is seated correctly.

What ever you do... DO NOT force it in, you already know what that will do

Ive rebuilt about 20 of them now so, I can do a rebuild in about 20 min now minus cleaning.. youll get the hang of it..
