Question Quick Radiator Fan Question

When you turn on the A/C compressor, does the radiator fan kick on automatically? To test the radiator fan which plug from to relay do you connect directly to a 12V source? Left, right or middle? What number goes to what battery terminal? (+ or -) Read this on another form post and wanted some clarification.

Yes, radiator fan should turn on when a/c is on.

No, you do not connect a 12v to the relay to test the fan. That is a two speed fan relay, you connect to either 2 - in or 1 - in to a ground, that would turn the fan on high speed or low speed.

30 is the 12v source , 2 - out and 1 - out both goes to the fan for high or slow speed.

I'm not sure which wire is which speed.

If you want to bypass the relay, undo the red/green plug, get a thick 10 gauge wire and use it to connect from a 12 v source to either red/green wire that connects to the fan.

The radiator fan does not kick on when the A/C Compressor is on. The A/C still blows cold consistently. Would that point to a bad relay? Step by step directions to manually test the fan? (Tools available, continuity tester, basic multimeter, gator clams & wires)

Testing procedure already given, those two test the relay and fan motor.

Engine Cooling Fan Control Switch Relay Module for Volvo C70 S70 V70 S90 V90 | eBay

In case it is just the relay, these would both be valid replacements, correct? 2.4L Base sedan (I have only a very rough understanding of what I'm doing)

Yes, relay is on top of the radiator.

When I was replacing the coolant and thermostat, I noticed a second relay under the splash guard on the drivers side in front of the right wheel, near the radiator petcock. It was also labeled as a fan relay. Any input as to the purpose of this? A/C relay or something different?

Doesn't sounds like a factory setup, but then it would help to know what we're working on here since a 1996 C30 does not exist.

Pictures would help. Have you tested the relay in your links yet?

Fixed the garage post (had to delete and re-upload) I'm awaiting delivery for a multimeter to make testing the relay easier & more accurate.
